The I Should Have Read That Tag

Hello everybody! Today, I’m going to be doing the I Should Have Read That tag, which was created by Beth and I found on Vicky’s blog. Onto the post!

A book that a certain friend is always telling you to read

Rachael tells me all the time that I need to read the Legend of Podkin One ‘Ear! I’ve owned it for ages, so she isn’t wrong tbf.

A book that’s been on your TBR for forever and yet you still haven’t picked it up

Ha, how long do you have? The list would be stupidly lengthy. So much so that I genuinely can’t pick just one…

A book in a series you’ve started but haven’t gotten round to finishing yet

I own all the Poppy Pym books I haven’t read yet, but have only read the first one. I’ve read other books by the author as well, just not those ones.

A classic you’ve always liked the sound of, but never actually read

Ooh I’m not sure. Maybe the Wolves of Willoughby Chase? I’m sure I’ll read it one day, I’ve just never managed the several times I took it out of the library…

A popular book that it seems everyone but you has read

I don’t know- maybe Ink by Alice Broadway? It looks great, but also like it’s very much not my taste so I’ve deliberately given a miss despite everyone loving it/the sequels.

A book that inspired a film/TV adaptation that you really love but just haven’t read yet

Like I said in another post recently, I really liked the film of Dumplin’ but am yet to read the book.

A book you see all over Instagram but haven’t picked up yet

I don’t really use Instagram for book recommendations, but a book that’s been on basically all my social media feeds recently is Rumblestar by Abi Elphinstone. Between that and how much I enjoyed prequel Everdark, which was a World Book Day book, I’m so excited to pick it up once it’s out!

I’m not going to tag 10 people, but I will tag Charlotte, Aimee and Sarah as I know they’ve all been looking for tags to do recently, and you reading if you’d like to do it!

What would your answers to these questions be? Do you have any thoughts on the books I’ve mentioned? I’d love to hear in the comments!

      1. I gave Sorrow a chance because I saw someone (I have a feeling it was Anna Day?) say it was a YA fantasy West Wing and then I did indeed end up loving It! And loved Song of Sorrow even more as you know!

  1. Also aching for Rumblestar here!! I have the first Poppy Pym but haven’t got round to reading it yet – it’s in my investments box- as in books I’ve bought with Littlefae in mind when she’s ready for them as she loves circuses etc.

  2. SOOOOOO excited for Rumblestar here too! And yes, you really must read Podkin 😉
I’ve not read Wolves of Willoughby Chase either. Perhaps I’ll try to make it one of the classic kids books I read this year, though I don’t really know anythibg about it either!x

  3. Rumblestar doesn’t come out until May doesn’t it? I have the prequel book, did you read uh… The Sky Song by her? I loved that one, which is probably why I picked up Everdark and pre-ordered Rumblestar too. I also want to get her The Night Spinner trilogy too!

    1. Yes, it’s out on the 31st May! I really liked Everdark and Sky Song, though I have to admit I didn’t like her trilogy that much (I’ve only read the first one and have tried to read the others several times and just never got far 🙈)
