Hello everybody! Today, I’m going to be doing the Shadowhunter Runes tag, to celebrate the fact Chain of Gold was my 100th read of the year last week. Onto the post!
Trust – Pick a Book/Series Where Trust Was Betrayed
Well this one is quite tricky to do without spoilers! I’m going to go for the Taylor and Rose, Secret Agents series though, because there is a very big betrayal of trust in that and I loved the third installment (Villains in Venice) when I read it earlier in the month.
Acceleration – Pick a Book/Series That You Accelerated Through
The Shadowhunter books themselves would work, but I feel like it’s kind of cheating to pick one of them (I did read all of City of Heavenly Fire in a day though so…). I read the Truly Devious trilogy quite quickly I think, for another recent one.
Deflect/Block – Pick a Book/Series That You Have Blocked Out From Your Mind
I read a Katie Fforde book a few months ago and I feel awful saying this but I’ve no idea how it even got published. It was so confusing and chaotic and yet so entirely dull at the same time. Recall – Pick the First Book/Series You Read The first book I remember reading on my own was something to do with squirrels and rabbits but I’ve no clue what it was called. My first really distinct memory of reading a series was the Pony Club Secrets books. Someone bought me the 4th one for my 5th or 6th birthday and not only did I immediately catch up but I celebrated the release of new ones religiously every year till the end of the series.
Friendship – Pick a Book/Series That Has an Awesome Friendship
The friendships in Boy Queen were brilliant! I absolutely loved Robin’s friend group as a whole and the individual relationships he has with all of them too.
Surefooted – Pick a Confident Character from a Book/Series
I don’t think you can get much more confident than my wonderful Daisy Wells! I still can’t believe the MMU series is over now.
Insight/Foresight – Pick a Book/Series with a Predictable Ending
It took me ages to think of an answer for this because I find quite a lot of endings predictable in romances I read, but I love most of them and so I don’t really care if they are, in that genre. I do mind a predictable mystery though, which is one of the reasons why I didn’t get on as well with the Highland Falcon Thief as I’d have liked!
Waterproof – Pick a Book/Series That Everyone Else but You Cried While Reading
I cry at EVERYTHING, including some things I don’t even particularly like. Does Northern Lights make people cry? I was dry-eyed for that, I really didn’t get on with the writing style.
Power – Pick a Book/Series That Has a Powerful Message
I’ve said it before but I think a Kind of Spark is so powerful and important. I’d honestly make it mandatory reading if I could because I think the world would be a better, less ableist place if more people understood its message.
Are you a fan of the Shadowhunter universe? Do you have any thoughts on the books I’ve mentioned here? I’d love to hear in the comments!
Amy x
Sorry you didn’t get on with Highland Falcon Thief. It’s definitely not as hard to guess as some but I still loved it.
Northern Lights didn’t make me cry, though I do love it!
