The Isles of Storm and Sorrow Tag

Hello everybody! Today, I’m doing a tag I pinched from Charlotte, which is themed around one of her favourite series. I haven’t yet read it but Viper is on my TBR. Anyway, onto the post!

First Isle: The King’s Isle – A book with royalty

Um, the first thing that popped into my head is a Throne of Swans, which features a world in which the nobility can transform into birds. It’s a great read and I’ll be buying the sequel soon.

Second Isle: The Fallow Isle – A book with a focus on food or harvests

The Cooking Club Detectives would count I guess? Or With the Fire On High maybe!! I really enjoyed both even though they’re very different.

Third Isle: The Black Isle – A book with a black cover

This Can Never Not Be Real has a predominantly black cover. It’s such a powerful, moving book.

Fourth Isle: The Floral Isle – A book that makes you feel peaceful

Hilary McKay’s books! They’re just absolutely stunning, I love them so much.

Fifth Isle: The Mist Isle – A book featuring mountains

The Himalayas are a mountain range, right? I feel extremely stupid for not being sure. But Jess Butterworth’s debut Running on the Roof of the World is set there I think.

Sixth Isle: The Rock Isle – A book featuring a quest

I think the plot of A Darkness of Dragons/A Vanishing of Griffins counts as a quest?

Seventh Isle: The Shadow Isle – A dark story

I can’t think of anything with a completely dark plot, with no ray of light or shred of hope, so instead I’ll say Maya and the Rising Dark since it has it in the title.

Eighth Isle: The Snow Isle – A book with a white cover

Me, My Dad and the End of the Rainbow has a white cover, with gorgeous splashes of colour! It’s such a gorgeous read.

Ninth Isle: The Blood Isle – A murder mystery

I mean, I need to pick Murder Most Unladylike, don’t I? I’m so predictable.

Tenth Isle: The Snow Isle – A book that gets heated (choose your interpretation here!)

I’m just going to say the Brown Sisters trilogy and leave it there. If you’ve read them, you know EXACTLY what I’m talking about.

Eleventh Isle: The Song Isle – A book featuring magicians

Amari and the Night Brothers does and it’s AMAZING. It has the absolute best twist ever.

Twelfth Isle: The Jewel of the West – A book with thievery

God this is harder than I expected it to be! There’s a pickpocket character in Skyborn, which I’ve not long finished at the time of writing, and it’s a fantastic prequel.

Thank you so much for reading! Have you read this series? What do you think about the books I’ve chosen for each prompt? I’d love to hear in the comments!
