Hello everybody! Today, I’m doing the High School Musical tag, which I found on Steph’s blog. I was quite young when HSM came out, but I definitely watched it pretty soon after it came out even though I was like five. Onto the post!
The Start of Something New: A new favorite genre/author/series
My fave new to me author this year is MOST DEFINITELY Nicola Skinner!! I’m lowkey worried she thinks I’m obsessed with her because I talk about her books and how much of a genius she is like ALL THE TIME. And a series I’ve got very into this year is the Five Realms books!
What I’ve Been Looking For: A book that has everything you’ve always wanted
Tumble and Blue, which I read earlier this month, has basically everything I want in a book. Gorgeous writing, weird and fascinating magic, a spooky small town and characters you just couldn’t possibly not adore.
Fabulous: A book with the biggest diva
Does Daisy Jones count as a diva? I think she does. I love her a LOT though.
Boys are Back: The best bromance
The boys in the Super Miraculous Journey of Freddie Yates. God, I loved them all and their friendship so much.
What Time Is It?: The best summer read
Oooh good question. I love a romance book in the summer. One I loved this year was the Road Trip. MG mystery is something else I love to devour in the summer especially, so the Secret Detectives deserves a mention here too.
Everyday: If you had to look at one book cover every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Either the original Julian de Narvaez In Darkling Wood cover or the David Dean illustrated cover for the Midnight Guardians! Scream: A character that frustrated you One of my very unpopular book opinions is that I HATED Romy in the Loneliest Girl in the Universe. She seriously got on my nerves.
Just Wanna Be With You: A book you couldn’t put down
I read a lot of things in a single day, but not many in a single sitting because that doesn’t usually work with the structure of my days. A recent one I was addicted to and read in just two sitting was Emma Carroll’s latest the Week at World’s End.
Humuhumunukunukuapua’a: The most ridiculous book/scene/character you have ever read
I have a few answers for this. Most recently, I found the Summer Job absolutely ludicrous. Pro tip to all the authors out there: don’t suggest stupidity is a symptom of a brain tumour. It’s tasteless and not very funny to people who’ve actually had them. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw that bit on the page. I hated the rest of the book as well though, the “twist” was just weird, the romance lacked chemistry and I could not STAND Birdy.
High School Musical: Your favorite fictional school
Oooh that’s HARD. Maybe the Wundrous Society school in the Nevermoor books? Rereading before Silverborn comes out will be a HUGE priority for me next year.
Spring Musical Medley: The happiest ending
Ooooh this is such a good question. One of my favourite book endings ever is in the Flatshare, which I really want to reread as well!
Thank you so much for reading! Were you a High School Musical fan back in the day? What are your thoughts on the books I’ve mentioned? I’d love to hear in the comments!
