Hello everybody! Today, I’m sharing some October releases I’m really excited about reading, of which there are quite a few. Onto the post!
Following Frankenstein- I love Catherine Bruton’s writing so I’m very excited for this sort of sequel to Frankenstein, which imagines what would happen if Frankenstein’s Mosnter had had a child. It sounds like an interesting mix of historical and fantasy, so I’m hoping for Strange Star type vibes!
Uki and the Ghostburrow– after the ending of Uki and the Swamp Spirit (which left a character I love’s life hanging in the balance), I need this so badly, although I’m a bit worried it might be the end of the Five Realms series at the same time! But I’m dying for the next adventure to see how Uki’s story ends as well so it’s definitely one I want to get to before the end of the year despite my fears!
Ghostcloud– all I really know about this is it’s middle grade fantasy, but I’ve heard AMAZING things about it online and I’m intrigued, especially because everyone seems to be really impressed by the villain Tabatha!
The Stitchers– this is already out in hardback but I only recently learnt about it and it’s out in paperback in October so I’m including it! It sounds a little bit like Mo, Lottie and the Junkers crossed with Crater Lake, both by Jennifer Killick (which I LOVED). So I think I’m really going to enjoy this one!!
Tristan Strong Destroys the World- I loved the first book in this series and I can’t wait to learn more about this amazing world, and African American folk tales and mythology. The first book was just fascinating, as well as being an action packed fantasy adventure.
Beyond the Mountains- I read the Shadow Moth last December (I think, at least), because my friend Rachael recommended it, and loved how quirky and unique a fantasy it was as well as the writing style, so I’m very excited indeed to see what happens in the sequel.
The Christmas Carrolls- I mistakenly thought this to be a fantasy, but I’ve since learned it’s actually MG contemporary, but I’m still very excited nonetheless! It’s about a girl named Holly whose family celebrate Christmas the whole year round, and the problems she faces when she starts a new school as a result.
The Very Merry Murder Club– a murder mystery anthology is basically THE most me thing ever. I’m absolutely dying to get my hands on it, I’m probably going to do a special post in its honour in December so I definitely read it quickly!!!
The Ice Whisperers– this sounds like SUCH an amazing debut, kind of like a cross between Frozen and Prisoner of Ice and Snow and the Republic of Birds, all of which I love, but also with a totally unique and original plot that I can’t wait to learn more about. It’s about sisters and a wintry world and an adventure, so it ticks basically all my boxes and I’m dying to get my hands on it.
A Single Thread of Moonlight– I love Laura Wood’s books in general, but her YA has a very special place in my heart (I may well reread A Snowfall of Silver in the winter!!), and this autumnal historical romance sounds right up my alley. Hoping for excellent banter and lots of swoony moments and stunning writing!
Merry Kissmas To You– this is another YA romance, this time by the author of the Twelve Dates of Christmas! I’m hoping for lovely, cosy, Christmassy vibes.
The Winter Cottage– I won’t actually be buying/reading this till it’s released in paperback as I can’t read ebooks due to health reasons, but I love Rachael Lucas’s writing so I’m very excited to get to it. Especially as it’s set in a small Scottish village, her Scotland-set books are always my absolute favourites!
Thank you so much for reading! Which books releasing next month are you most looking forward to? Are you planning to add any of my list after this post? I’d love to hear in the comments!
Amy x

I was very excited when I ordered a signed copy only to be told it wasn’t available after my order was accepted – I was disappointed, but I have so many other books to read that I can wait a little longer. Hope yours arrived ok.
