Ten Books on My Spring TBR

Hello everybody! Today, I’m taking part in top ten Tuesday, and sharing ten books I’m hoping to read this spring. I’ve picked review copies I’ve been sent (almost at random because I’ve been SO lucky recently and I didn’t want the whole post to be review copies!!) and also just some things I’ve bought or have on loan from the library. Anyway, onto the post!

REVIEW COPIES

Wilder than Midnight– this is by Cerrie Burnell, who is a disabled author, and when I was offered a proof it was a no-brainer to say yes. It’s a fairytale with disability rep and I know this is a silly reason to be excited but one of the main characters has the same name as one of my dogs! (Saffy) The Sky Over Rebecca- I’m always here for a timeslip book, and this one sounds truly wonderful, as you’ll probably have guessed if you read the debut spotlight post I featured it in. I was thrilled to the point of audibly squealing when the package with it came through my letterbox, and

The Map of Leaves– this was also on one of my debut spotlight lists and I was SO EXCITED to receive an early proof. It sounds like such a wonderful fantasy with themes of nature and getting serious Nicola Penfold vibes which is making me even more excited!!

My Heart and Other Breakables– this was one I hadn’t heard of before I got the email but mentioning Geek Girl as a comp title had me sold on it immediately. It’s got a kind of Mamma Mia vibe as it follows a girl trying to find out which of three possible men is her father, after the death of her mum.

You Can Trust Me– ideally I’d like to get to this in March, but realistically I’ll probably pick it up in April as a treat once my oral exams are out of the way. Feminist YA thrillers are very much my jam and I think the cover of this is SO stunning.

OTHER THINGS

Just Right Jillian– I have a very specific time in mind where I want to be reading this and if you can guess what it is, you know me and the weird way my brain works very well. I’m not going to tell you right now but if you want to guess, please do!! All I’ll say is it’s because of an element on the cover and you’ll be hearing more about the book itself on Saturday 😉

The Mystwick School of Music Craft– I am SO excited about the review post this is part of, and I’m also unbelievably excited for the book, mostly because the concept is just so very me as I love music but also because I really enjoyed Sparrow Rising by this author.

The Extraordinary Adventures of Alice Tonks– this isn’t out till May so it might be a squeeze to fit it in while it’s still spring, but I think has the potential to be a total fave for me between the boarding school and the talking to animals so I really want to prioritise it. Also yay for neurodivergent rep!!

The Roommate– I have a middle grade buddy read planned in April as well, but I thought I’d pop this on here seeing as I only have one adult book on the list. I think it’s going to be a lot of fun, who doesn’t love enemies to lovers and forced proximity?!

Mad About You– I like a lot of romance writers, but no one has come close to taking Mhairi McFarlane’s crown as my favourite. I’d just read anything she writes to be honest but I’m here for the enemies to lovers vibe the blurb is giving me!!

Thank you so much for reading! Which books are on your spring TBR this year? Are you planning to pick up any of the ones on my list? I’d love to chat with you in the comments!

  1. I’m looking forward to getting to Map of Leaves too!
I can’t guess about Jillian (though maybe I’m being a bit dim!) but maybe after your post I have an idea, I don’t know anything about the book/cover at all yet!

    1. I can’t wait to discuss Map of Leaves at some point! I think it’ll be a big hit for both of us (and Lily!). I’ll be very impressed if anyone guesses when I’m reading Jillian because it is very niche and silly 🤣🤣
