Ten Books on My Summer TBR

Hello everybody! Today, I’m taking part in Top Ten Tuesday, for which the prompt today is to share 10 books on your summer tbr. Onto the post!

REVIEW COPIES (just a note to say I do have more than these, and will hopefully be getting to them ALL over the summer, so this is basically a random selection 🙂 )

Ajay and the Mumbai Sun– I can’t remember if this was on my official TTT list, but this is a carryover from spring. It’s MG contemporary/adventure about people who live in a Mumbai slum, plus it has sun in the title which seems fitting for summer.

Every Cloud– this is another contemporary, I think about a girl called Amy who has to move town during the summer because of a family issue and is struggling to adapt.

How to be True– I LOVED How to Brave more than I can possibly describe to you, and Edie was a big part of that because she’s the most amazing character, and this sequel focuses on HER as the main character. God, I can’t wait!!

Drama and Danger– I’m going to be buddy reading this with Rachael, and I feel like it’ll be a big hit for us both. It’s a historical mystery following fictionalised versions of real historical Black figures, and the introductory story in the Very Merry Murder Club was probably my favourite of that whole anthology so I truly can’t wait.

Twice Hexed– Hexed was one of my absolute favourite books of 2021, so I’m sure this sequel will be equally as brilliant. Funny, feminist witchy comedy set on the Isle of Wight is how I’d describe book one; like Holly Bourne but with more magic is another fitting synopsis.

Tag, You’re Dead– this is about a deadly competition run by an influencer, and it just sounds really creepy and murderous and I think it’ll be a good time. Plus, I’ve been meaning to read some Kathryn Foxfield for AGES.

OTHER THINGS

Giant– I’m a mega Nicola Skinner fan, as you may know, so her new release obviously had to be on here. No one else does funny fantasy/fabulism as well as her, I’m sure this will have me SCREECHING with laughter.

Something Certain, Maybe– I’m a huge Sara Barnard fan, and I’ve been BEGGING for a Rosie book (she’s a side character in both Beautiful Broken Things and Fierce Fragile Hearts) for literal years so you cannot imagine how excited I am for this.

Dial A for Aunties– this has been on my TBR for ages but I’ve finally gotten it out of the library so I should hopefully be reading it soon. It’s a romcom-esque vibe, but also focuses on a woman trying to cover up a murder.

The Wedding Season– the Secret Bridesmaid was one of my favourite romcoms last summer, so of course Katy’s new one has to be on this list. It’s about a woman whose fiancé calls off their wedding, and her having to attend all her friends’ ceremonies while navigating her heartbreak.

Thank you so much for reading! What’s on your summer TBR? Do you have any thoughts on the books I’ve mentioned in my post? I’d love to have a chat in the comments!

  1. Every Cloud is such a lovely read. I’ve got my review of it going live tomorrow. It’s a really lush story.

Something Certain Maybe is absolutely everything I could have wanted from Rosie’s book and more.
