The Last Monster Blog Tour: Guest Post from Dan Walker

Hello everybody! Today, I’m super excited to be sharing a guest post from Dan Walker with you, about the characters in his Light Hunters series. I read the first book last month and really enjoyed it, so I’m hoping to get to the sequel soon. Onto the post!

It’s difficult to capture a book character in a small description on a website, but I think with a bit of thought you can get the heart of them across. So, without further ado, I present to you a little info on each of the main characters in The Last Monster.

Lux

Our main character and one of the most promising Healers the Light Hunters have ever seen. Lux comes from a small town in Daven that was terrorized by a huge Cerberus until he and his squad-mates finished it off. Brave, tenacious, kind-hearted, at the start of The Last Monster, Lux is struggling to come to terms with the loss of his grandpa, as well as a new, strange power that only he seems to wield.

Brace

Squad Juno’s Archer. More enthusiasm than sense. But despite his penchant for rushing in and thinking of the consequences later, like Lux Brace is kind, brave and fiercely loyal. There’s no Light Hunter you’d want more by your side in a fight with a Monster.

Fera

Squad Juno’s Conjuror. Fera comes from a very rich family near the glittering city of Lindhelm, and because of this she often feels a push to prove herself to the other Light Hunters. But she can throw a Flame like nobody else, and without her there’d be nobody else to keep Lux and Brace in line.

Ester

Squad Juno’s leader and the daughter of the Light Hunter Luminary, Artello Nova, Ester has lived with the Light Hunters her whole life. Cautious, sensible, and a little older than the other Hunters in her squad, she uses Light and her Gauntlet device to make sure they get where they’re supposed to be, when they’re supposed to be there.

Ghast

Emory Ghast, a former Light Hunter, left the group after a disagreement with the Luminary, Ester’s father, Artello Nova. Since then, he has spent his time at the prestigious university in Lindhelm, studying Monsters and the Ancient societies that many believe created them.

Sally

Ghast’s young granddaughter. A girl with an interest in everything and everyone. A keen artist, an obsessive poet (there isn’t a day goes by when she doesn’t write at least one) and a girl with a big secret that she can hardly keep hold of.

Deimos

Another former Light Hunter, Deimos became twisted by Shade shortly after he left, and has been on the side of the Monsters ever since. An incredibly skilled fighter, Deimos is the Light Hunters’ most feared enemy – a bigger threat than the Monsters themselves – and someone with whom Lux has a personal grudge.

Thank you so much for reading! Have you read any of Dan’s books? Which characters do you most like the sound of? And what are your favourite traits for characters to possess, in general? I’d love to chat with you in the comments!
