Blog Tour Review: Mort the Meek and the Perilous Prophecy

Hello everybody! Today, I’m thrilled to be part of the blog tour for the last book in the Mort the Meek series, even though I’m incredibly sad the series is now over. Onto the post!

The series follows a boy named Mort, who lives on an island called Brutalia where everyone is ruled over by a harsh and exacting queen. She expects her subjects to be as unpleasant and horrible to each other as possible, and in this world, kindness is a foreign concept. The only problem is that Mort is a pacifist and is constantly trying to change things alongside his best friend and fellow pacifist Weed, much to the chagrin of those around them.

This installment sees our peace-loving boys travel to another island to investigate them after the Queen starts to suspect they’re planning to attack Brutalia. It was so interesting to see them in a new situation with seemingly much nicer people, and also to explore a new setting in general. As ever, this made me laugh SO much- the quirky narration and the recurring joke motif at the start of chapters are just comedy gold, as is the set up of the series itself and the chaos that causes. I love these characters so much (even the Queen, in a weird way!!), and this was a fitting send off for them and their world.

Rachel is such a talented writer and while I’m very sad this is my last trip to Brutalia, I can’t wait to see which stories she spins next. I already know they’ll be wonderful! I’m also honoured to have been part of every blog tour this series has had- it feels like such a full circle moment.

Thank you so much for reading! Have you read this series, or any of Rachel’s other amazing books? Does a series ending make you sad too? I’d love to chat in the comments!
