Recommending Books to Mickey and Friends|Disney Recommendations #2

Hello everbody!

Today, it’s time for the second post in my series of recommending books to Disney characters, and the “category” (for want of a better word) I’ve chosen for this second post is the orginal characters from the cartoons; bascially, Mickey and his group of friends. Onto the post!

Recommending Books to the Disney Princesses

Hello everybody! Today, I’m doing a post inspired by some blog posts/Booktube videos I’ve seen recently where people recommend books to people based on their Hogwarts house or recommend books to some of the biggest YouTube stars, and I decided I wanted to do something similar for Disney characters. I’m planning for this to be a series, and I’m starting off with the Disney Princesses! Onto the post!

5 Disney Items I Don’t Own But Would Like To

Hello everybody!

Today, I’m going to be talking about some of the Disney items I don’t own that I’d most like to, which I decided to do after writing this post about my favourites of my current collection. Onto the post!

Olaf tote bag– of all the Disney tote bags Poundlandhave ever released, this is hands down my favourite and I’m gutted I didn’t find it in any of the shops I made a trip to specially in search of it. I think these totes are fantastic (and surprisingly roomy) and having one with my favourite character on it would be amazing, because just LOOK at how precious he is. I do own another Olaf bag, but it’s nowhere near as lovely. I also really wish I’d been able to track down the Winnie the Pooh/Piglet one!

Photo: Disney Store

Stitch mug- Stitch is one of my other favourite Disney characters (a huge reason for that is that he reminds me of my younger dog Saffy), and I think he looks so sweet with his guitar on this mug. It’s now sold out, so I’m pretty sad I never came across it in the Disney Store. The others in the same collection are super cute too; I love the designs.

Mickey Mouse ears– As you might know if you follow me on Twitter/Instagram, I love doing themed photoshops with my dogs and dressing them up in general, and I’d love to do one with these whenever I finally get a pair or two! I’ve seen so many gorgeous ones 😍

Saffy (top) and Shimmer wearing their Pudsey ears for Children in Need!

Olaf figurine– yes, there are two Olaf items on this list, and between that and how many Olaf themed items I already own I think Olaf is 100% my favourite Disney character. I saw this in a shop on holiday and didn’t go in because I wasn’t sure where I could put it, but I’m really hoping it’s still there next time I am. Even if it’s just in my bedroom, seeing Olaf always makes me smile, so I think it’d be nice to have.

101 Dalmatians notebook– this was designed by Cath Kidston, and while I think all of her Disney items are gorgeous, this is by far my favourite and I wish I’d known about it when it went on sale (even though I’ve never actually seen 101 Dalmatians. I really should get to that…)

What Disney items do you not own that you’d like to? Do you agree with any of your list? Who would you say your favourite Disney character is, and do you have any items related to them? Let me know in the comments or on Twitter @GoldenBooksGirl!

My Five Favourite Disney Items I Own

Hello everybody!

Today, I’m going to be showing you my five favourite Disney items I own, which was inspired by Jenny in Neverland’s post on the same topic (which she very kindly agreed I could do). Onto the items!

<!–more–>

Chip n’ Dale mug– Chip n’ Dale are my favourite of the original Disney characters, so I lusted after this in the Disney store for quite a while and was super happy when I got it for my birthday. I think Chip and Dale are hilarious, and this mug always makes me smile when I use it.

Minnie t-shirt– this is a very new addition to my wardrobe (I picked it up in F and F and couldn’t bring myself to leave without it), and I adore it. A Minnie saying, shiny gold bits and a fab illustration of Minnie is basically perfect. I’m really hoping I can get hold of the Mickey equivelent before it sells out.

Tote bags– I am a big, big fan of Poundland’s Disney totes; the designs on them are so gorgeous, they’re pretty sturdy and they carry an awful lot more than you’d think from their small looking size. I own quite a few, including the Minnie one above, a 101 Dalmatians one, several Bambi designs, Thumper and Eeyore. There are only a couple I’ve ever wanted I couldn’t find, and I’ll be talking about them quite soon in a post I’m planning about Disney items I love but don’t own.

Modern Languages mug– something I love that I don’t mention that much online is that I really love modern languages- they’re my favourite subjects at school and I can’t imagine life without learning them. One of my Modern Languages teachers very kindly gifted me this after I complimented it one day, and I adore it; it combines two of my very favourite things.

Winnie the Pooh pyjamas– I am a big fan of pyjamas, and quite a chunk of my sizeable collection is Disney themed. I can’t remember where I got these, but I adore the characters from Winnie the Pooh, and the quote at the bottom is fabulous (and something I say fairly often…) so I love them loads.

My Top Ten Disney Animals

Hello everybody!

Today, I’m finally getting to a post I’ve fancied doing for months about my favourite Disney animals! I’m a huge animal lover in general (as you’ll know if you’ve read this blog before/know me on Twitter) and so it seemed perfect. Onto the post!

Disclaimer- because I found this hard to narrow down, double acts/animals from the same film are counted as one entry on the list.

<!–more–>

Chip n Dale– these two are my fave “classic” Disney characters. They’re so cheeky and mischevious; which is what made them some of my favourite characters I met at Disneyland Paris when I went years ago (Remy and Emile, who very narrowly missed being on this list, were also hilarious). I lovethem so much I even asked for a mug with them on it for my birthday last year (which you shall see in a post I have coming up in a few months…)

Olaf– I know Olaf isn’t technically an animal, but he also isn’t human and this is my list, so he counts. Olaf is the sweetest character ever, and I adore him. He’s wonderful in Frozen, adding humour and heart, not to mention a brilliant song to the soundtrack, and I cannot tell you how excited I was going to see Olaf’s Frozen Adventure. In it, he’s even better, and I’m not in the slightest bit ashamed to tell you I wept openly throughout because I was so worried about him. I love how wholeheartedly kind he is and how much he cares about his friends. I cannot wait to see him again come Frozen 2.

Stitch– Like Olaf, Stitch is another not quite animal who I adore. I love how he changes from an evil alien into a loving companion for Lilo, and I also love him because he reminds me of my younger dog. Not because she’s an alien (though she’s definetly odd enough to be from another planet…) but because when she’s playing and particularly hyper, she makes a noise much like Stitch does before he can speak a bit, and it makes me laugh. Plus, he has a super cool Elvis costume.

Flounder– Flounder is one of my favourite Disney sidekicks! He’s so sweet, and I like how wonderful a companion to Ariel he is by following her into lotsof dangerous situations to help her despite his fears. Personally, I wouldn’t have ditched him, but I suppose that’s Ariel’s choice 😕

Gus and Jaq– I love mice/rats in fiction, I really do. These two are particularly adorable, and the dress scene(s) where the mice make her a dress for the ball made me weep. I’m welling up just thinking about it. I really want to watch Cinderella again, but that scene made me cry so much last time I keep putting it off!

Nick Wilde– I also love Judy, but this is a rare case of me actually being able to pick a favourite. I love Nick from the moment he’s introduced as a wisecracking, sneaky con artist to the end of the film, when he’s quite different altogether while retaining his brilliant sense of humour. I firmly believe Zootopia is the most underrated Disney film, and it’s hilarious and heartwarming, and I highly recommend it.

Pascal and Maximus– their rivalry/grudging friendship is amazing, but I also love their relationships with Rapunzel and Flynn. I love how Maximus is loyal to Rapunzel and helps her, and how amazing a companion Pascalis both in the tower and on her adventure with Flynn. Their antagonistic behaviour towards Flynn is HILARIOUS.

Bambi and Thumper– Bambi breaks my heart, but I love Bambi and Thumper a huge amount. They’re both utter darlings in their own right and I loved watching them become friends, alongsude Flower. Writing this has reminded me how much I like Bambi, and that I really should rewatch soon!

Simba– Simba is phenomemal, and I really like how much he grows as a character. He’s a super fun cub (I especially love him in the ‘I Just Can’t Wait to Be King’ sequence) and he grows into such a strong adult, when he must face his uncle in battle to save his pride.

Koda- I love Brother Bear, and Koda is the main reason for that. I love that he loves Kenai so much (even though he inititally doesn’t show kindness in return), and how adventurous and fun-loving he is. I also feel incredibly sorry for him, as his mum has went missing and he has to deal with that.

Oliver– I cannot understand how no one wanted to take Oliver at first. It boggles my mind. He’s so adorable and I have a huge fondness for ginger cats, so I kind of have to love him, but I also love how brave he is throughout all the situations he’s put in throughout Oliver and Company, and how loyal he is to his friends.

That was TOUGH! I could honestly have included basically every Disney animal ever on that list, tbh (and the ones who JUST didn’t make it were Lady and the Tramp/aforementioned Remy and Emile/EVERYONE from Winnie the Pooh/Nemo, if you’re interested). Who are your favourite Disney animals? Do you agree with any of my choices? Let me know in the comments or on Twitter @GoldenBooksGirl!

My Favourite Disney Love Songs

Hello everybody!

Today it’s time for another love themed post, I’m going to be writing about my favourite romantic Disney songs. Onto the post! (Please note there will be a spoiler for Frozen if you haven’t seen it!)

Love is An Open Door- this one is possibly marred a bit by the fact that Hans turns out to be an evil villain who wants to kill Anna, but it’s still a seriously good song. It’s catchy, pretty funny and I just really like the scene. It doesn’t take the crown for my favourite Frozen song, but it has tough competition seeing Let it Go is spectacular, and In Summer is the most joyous song possibly ever, and I still like it a lot.

Kiss the Girl- I love the Little Mermaid soundtrack an awful lot; Sebastian is the best. This song, which is sung when Ariel and Eric take a boat trip together and Eric must kiss Ariel in order for her to remain human, so Sebastian is attempting to set a romantic vibe and coax him into it. This is super fun, and it’s different to alnost any other Disney love song I can think of since it’s not the couple who sing it.

Can You Feel the Love Tonight- another sing that fits that bill is this one from the Lion King. It’s written by Elton John and it’s beautiful, and it’s one of the loveliest scenes in the film (even though the writing in the sky caused all that controversy…).

I See the Light– this is definetly the most visually stunning scene of Tangled (and as someone who loves purple and gold, as you can probably tell from my blog colours, may I just say I highly approve of the colour scheme of it too). It’s a totally beautiful song, and as a Chuck fan it always surprises me just how good a singer Zachary Levi actually is!

Something that I Want– this is SUCH a good song, and I think I’d count it as a love song. It plays over the end credits of Tangled, and my interpretation of the lyrics are that it’s about Rapunzel and Flynn, and how finding each other changes their lives (that may be totally wrong, but it’s the way I understand it and it feels like a love song. Do you agree? Let me know in the comments!). It’s toe-tappingly catchy, I love the lyrics and how it sort of tells the story of the film, and I also just really, really like Grace Potter’s voice!

Thank you so much for reading! What are your favourite Disney love songs? I’d love to hear from you in the comments or on Twitter @GoldenBooksGirl!

My 5 Favourite Disney Villains

Hello everybody!

As a sort of Halloween themed post, I thought it would be fun to share my five favourite Disney villains today. There are sone absolutely ones and it was very hard to narrow down my list to 5.

Onto the baddies!

Mother Gothel, from Tangled- Mother Gothel is an excellent villain; she’s sinister, creepy and manipulative. It’s incredibly fun to love to hate her, and Mother Knows Best is incredibly catchy.

Dr. Faciler, from the Princess and the Frog- Even though the Princess and the Frog isn’t my favourite Disney film by a long shot, I do love it’s villain. He’s sneaky, and clever, and uses some really interesting dark magic throughout.

Ursula, from the Little Mermaid- Like Mother Gothel, I love to hate Ursula. She’s just plain EVIL, with what she does to Ariel in this film. I love the fact the she has menacing sidekicks to do her bidding, in Flotsam and Jetsam.

Shere Kahn, from the Jungle Book- I find Shere Kahn fascinating. Is he really the villain of the Jungle Book? Sure, he hates Mowgli, but only because humans have hurt him and his jungle. I actually feel sorry for him to be honest. Plus, tigers are my favourite animal, so I kind of have to love him!

Scar, from the Lion King- Yes, I saved the best for last. Scar is chilling, callous and coldhearted; his actions during the film are despicable and every scene he’s in sends shivers down my spine. He’s the ultimate baddie. On a more frivolous note, Be Prepared is quite possibly my favourite Disney song of all time, and Scar also spawned one of my favourite GIFS 😁

Thank you so much for reading! Who are your favourite Disney villains? Why do you love to hate them? Do we share any? Let me know in the comments!

See you soon with a new post,
