The Bookish Questions Tag

Hello everybody! Two posts in two days, who even am I?! But Sophie tagged me to do this on Instagram and I decided to make it a blog post, so here we are. Onto the post!

Genre I stay away from?

I used to always say horror for this but I’ve actually started reading a tiny bit of horror so now I don’t really know?! Maybe lit fic?

Worst habit as a reader?

Definitely buying too many books, same as Sophie, much as I wish I had some dazzling and unique answer.

Do I read the synopsis?

if you read my most anticipated releases posts you’ll know that’s a no! I usually have a vague idea of what things are about from early reviews or stuff the author’s said, but almost every single book in those I’m like I JUST LIKE THE VIBES SO I’M BUYING IT OKAY. I use the word vibes way too much, in related news.

Do I read used books?

Yes, for sure! I love buying books second hand (if they’re in good condition, anyway, will never forget the book that turned up in my house with what looked like oil stains on the side :// )

Favourite book from last year?

Okay, that’s impossible, cause I have loads, but one of them would be Daisy Jones and the Six. I reread it last week and I loved it SO MUCH again; it’s just an incredible story told in an incredibly clever way.

Favourite classic?

I’m not really much of a classics gal, but I do love Charlotte’s Web and One Hundred and One Dalmatians because they’re so wholesome and lovely and we all know how obsessed I am with animals.

Book I always recommend?

I mean, it really depends on the person ! I’ve recommended the Appeal to a lot of people lately, so I’ll say that. Book I didn’t like? Most recently, the Secret of Splint Hall.

Current read?

At the time of writing, the Offline Diaries! Probably so things differen by the time this goes live though.

Books I’m looking forward to reading?

An advance copy of Witchlings arrived in my house the other day and I SCREAMED, so it seems like an obvious answer. But really there are so many, too many to list!!

Books I’m ashamed of not reading yet?

I mean, there are a LOT, being late to the party with books is kind of my brand. I’ll say Such a Fun Age cause I’ve been meaning to read it for ages and someone told me they really enjoyed it a couple weeks ago.

Thank you so much for reading! What are your thoughts on the books I’ve mentioned in my answers? What would yours have been? I’d really love to chat in the comments!

The Valentine’s Day Book Tag

Hello everybody! Today, I’m going to be doing the Valentine’s Day Book Tag, which I haven’t done since 2019 and thought it would be fun to do again, even though I have a lot of feelings about Valentine’s Day and how sad it usually makes me.But enough of that, onto the post!

The End of Year Reading Survey | 2021 Edition

Hello everybody! So, I decided that it would work better for me to wait a few days into the New Year before writing this and I’m really glad I did, so I think it’ll be a little later than I used to do it every year from now on, around the 5th kind of time.

I have written answers to this tag (originally by Perpetual Page Turner) every year since I’ve had my blog and it takes AGES, but it’s great to have them to look back on, so I hope people enjoy reading them as well. Onto the post!

Ten Vivid Memories I Have of Books

Hello everybody! So, today’s Top Ten Tuesday is about bookish memories, and I was originally going to try and vary these a lot more, but I’m writing this on a very bad day in terms of my illness, and it got me thinking about how many days like this there have been and the books that provided escape during them. So I’m writing all about those instead. Onto the post!

Ten Signs I’m a Book Lover

Hello everybody! Today, I’m going to be taking part in Top Ten Tuesday, and the theme today is things that are signs we’re book lovers. I struggled a bit with this as a topic but hopefully it’s not too boring a list, onto the post!

1. The fact I have over 5 boxes of unread books in my house

2. The fact I have a quote from one tattooed across my collarbone

3. The fact I usually read 100+ books in a year

4. The fact I go to the library almost every weekend

5. The fact I didn’t shut up about meeting a bookseller I’d been dying to meet for ages for like a full two days afterwards and fully freaked out when she followed me on Twitter to the point where my friend STILL teases me about it (I’m sure you’re not, but hi Clara if you’re reading, and thank you for that excellent bookish chat!)

6. If you ask me for a book recommendation, I’ll send you a full list and then send another message with more later!

7. My first response to almost any personal crisis is to work out which book(s) will help. I’m pretty sure I started drafting my spine surgery reading list the day I found out I needed to have it.

8. I read almost every day.

9. Reading is one of the most calming things I can do for myself when I get stressed or sad or need to escape the world for a bit.

10. I’ve been reading since I can remember, and I never, ever want to stop

What do you think some signs you’re a book lover are? Do we have any in common? I’d love to hear in the comments!
