My Favourite Disney Love Songs

Hello everybody!

Today it’s time for another love themed post, I’m going to be writing about my favourite romantic Disney songs. Onto the post! (Please note there will be a spoiler for Frozen if you haven’t seen it!)

Love is An Open Door- this one is possibly marred a bit by the fact that Hans turns out to be an evil villain who wants to kill Anna, but it’s still a seriously good song. It’s catchy, pretty funny and I just really like the scene. It doesn’t take the crown for my favourite Frozen song, but it has tough competition seeing Let it Go is spectacular, and In Summer is the most joyous song possibly ever, and I still like it a lot.

Kiss the Girl- I love the Little Mermaid soundtrack an awful lot; Sebastian is the best. This song, which is sung when Ariel and Eric take a boat trip together and Eric must kiss Ariel in order for her to remain human, so Sebastian is attempting to set a romantic vibe and coax him into it. This is super fun, and it’s different to alnost any other Disney love song I can think of since it’s not the couple who sing it.

Can You Feel the Love Tonight- another sing that fits that bill is this one from the Lion King. It’s written by Elton John and it’s beautiful, and it’s one of the loveliest scenes in the film (even though the writing in the sky caused all that controversy…).

I See the Light– this is definetly the most visually stunning scene of Tangled (and as someone who loves purple and gold, as you can probably tell from my blog colours, may I just say I highly approve of the colour scheme of it too). It’s a totally beautiful song, and as a Chuck fan it always surprises me just how good a singer Zachary Levi actually is!

Something that I Want– this is SUCH a good song, and I think I’d count it as a love song. It plays over the end credits of Tangled, and my interpretation of the lyrics are that it’s about Rapunzel and Flynn, and how finding each other changes their lives (that may be totally wrong, but it’s the way I understand it and it feels like a love song. Do you agree? Let me know in the comments!). It’s toe-tappingly catchy, I love the lyrics and how it sort of tells the story of the film, and I also just really, really like Grace Potter’s voice!

My 5 Favourite Disney Villains

Hello everybody!

As a sort of Halloween themed post, I thought it would be fun to share my five favourite Disney villains today. There are sone absolutely ones and it was very hard to narrow down my list to 5.

Onto the baddies!

Mother Gothel, from Tangled- Mother Gothel is an excellent villain; she’s sinister, creepy and manipulative. It’s incredibly fun to love to hate her, and Mother Knows Best is incredibly catchy.

Dr. Faciler, from the Princess and the Frog- Even though the Princess and the Frog isn’t my favourite Disney film by a long shot, I do love it’s villain. He’s sneaky, and clever, and uses some really interesting dark magic throughout.

Ursula, from the Little Mermaid- Like Mother Gothel, I love to hate Ursula. She’s just plain EVIL, with what she does to Ariel in this film. I love the fact the she has menacing sidekicks to do her bidding, in Flotsam and Jetsam.

Shere Kahn, from the Jungle Book- I find Shere Kahn fascinating. Is he really the villain of the Jungle Book? Sure, he hates Mowgli, but only because humans have hurt him and his jungle. I actually feel sorry for him to be honest. Plus, tigers are my favourite animal, so I kind of have to love him!

Scar, from the Lion King- Yes, I saved the best for last. Scar is chilling, callous and coldhearted; his actions during the film are despicable and every scene he’s in sends shivers down my spine. He’s the ultimate baddie. On a more frivolous note, Be Prepared is quite possibly my favourite Disney song of all time, and Scar also spawned one of my favourite GIFS 😁

Thank you so much for reading! Who are your favourite Disney villains? Why do you love to hate them? Do we share any? Let me know in the comments!

My 5 Favourite Feelgood Disney Songs

Hello everybody!

For today’s post, I thought it’d be fun to talk about the Disney songs that always bring a smile to my face, especially as this was the post you said you’d like to be my next Disney one when I did a poll on Twitter. Let’s get started!

In no particular order…

FROZEN- IN SUMMER (sang by Olaf)

This probably won’t be the song that first springs to mind for you when you think of Frozen, but it is for me! It’s such a cheerful, happy, hopeful song and it totally captures Olaf  as a character. The animation throughout the scene where he sings it is superb too; especially the part where he tap dances 😍

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST- BE OUR GUEST (sang mainly by Lumiere and Mrs Potts)

I’m not sure why I like this song, I just do! It’s silly and fun, and I think it’s one of the happiest moments of Beauty and the Beast (which is quite a melancholy Disney film a lot of the time, in my opinion). It’s definetely not my favourite of this list, but I still like it a lot.

THE ARISTOCATS- EVRY’BODY WANTS TO BE A CAT (sang mainly by Thomas O’ Malley. The alley cat 😉. Top points to you if you get that reference 😜😂)

This song is amazing. I love everything about it. The slow bits, the fast bits, the instrumentals, the scene. A fabulous song that really makes The Aristocats that little bit more special (and it’s already pretty fantastic). Also,  Marie the kitten’ s line is ultra adorable and never fails to make me smile and melt my heart a little!

THE LITTLE MERMAID- UNDER THE SEA (sang by Sebastian)

If this song doesn’t make you sing along, I’ll be surprised. Sebastian isn’t my favourite in the Little Mermaid (that honour is reserved for Flounder. He’s a close second though), but this song is easily a Disney classic. It also holds a special place in my heart because when Saffy (my 3 year old Golden Retriever, if you’ve not read this blog before 😘) was a puppy she was a terrible sleeper (she was quite badly behaved in general/exuberant, even more so than she is now). As in, she basically turned into something out of the Exorcist when you left her in the kitchen to go to sleep. This song was one we used to play/sing to her and it did the trick more than some! Even now she’s a big 3 year old, I still sing it to her when she’s scared or upset. Hope you like these photos of her as a crazy pup!

Paws in the air, she definitely just didn’t care…
Stealing a toy from big sis
Stealing from washing line!

My final choice of song may be my favourite of all…

TANGLED- I WANT SOMETHING THAT I WANT (sang by Grace Potter, in the credits)

I know, I know, it’s not technically a Disney song. But, have you HEARD it? It’s one of my favourite songs pretty much ever, and every single time I hear it I want to shout out all the words and just dance. I’m never happy that Tangled is over, but I also kind of am as I get to hear this playing ❤

So those are my favourite feel good Disney songs, what are your’s? I’d love to hear about them in the comments or on Twitter @GoldenBooksGirl
