Q and A: My Dream Ice Cream, Characters I Want to Meet and Other Fun Facts!

Hello everybody! I realised last month that I hadn’t really done a personal Q and A post for a while and I used to really enjoy them, so I asked for some questions on social media and luckily, very lovely people sent me some. Onto the post!

Meet my Tattoos!

Hello everybody! So, I posted a photo on Twitter the other week and got a couple of questions about the tattoo that was visible in it, and I remembered that I’d wanted to do a post all about my tattoos and just hadn’t got round to it, and I decided I might as well do one now I have 5 and it’ll be a decent length! So, onto the post!

The Christmas Characters Tag

Hello everybody! Today, I’m doing another Christmassy tag, and I found this one on Lainy’s blog. Onto the post!

SANTA CLAUSE- A Gift You Received or Want This Year?

I’ve been pretty obsessed with Oh Wonder for a while now, and I’m really hoping I’ll get physical copies of their albums for Christmas.

MRS. CLAUSE- A Favourite Holiday Treat to Have Every Year?

As in my favourite holiday snack? Chocolate coins, hands down. I’m particularly loving Costa’s this year.

GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PAST- A Holiday Memory from Your Past?

I really love opening the Christmas Eve box my mum does for me, with new pyjamas and some other nice treats.

BUDDY THE ELF “The best way to spread Christmas Cheer, is singing loud for all to hear.”- A Holiday Song You like to Sing Each Holiday Season?

My actual favourite Christmas song is one you can’t really sing along to (Carol of the Bells). The ones I most like singing along to are Baby It’s Cold Outside (Idina Menzel/Michael Buble version) and All I Want for Christmas is You

MISFIT TOYS- An Unpopular Toy You Really Wanted to Get One Year?

I loved Playmobil as a child, and I don’t really remember anyone else I knew wanting the new sets for Christmas. But I could just be forgetting. I can’t think of anything super strange.

GRINCH- A Moment When Your Heart Grew Three Sizes?

I bought a book each for a family friend’s kids one year and they sent a video thanking me. It was the most precious.

JACK FROST- A Tradition You Like to Do Every Winter?

My favourite thing I always do in December is probably just watching Miracle on 24th Street. I really love that film and it doesn’t feel like it’s Christmas unless I see it at some point.

HERO BOY-A Moment You Believed in a Holiday Wish/Miracle

This is really hard! I can’t really think of anything specific, although I’m very superstitious so I do believe in miracles as a general rule.

CINDY LOU WHO- A Favourite Holiday Tradition?

Other than the Miracle on 34th Street thing I can’t think of anything very interesting. I love watching Christmas Strictly ever year as well, that’s about the best I can come up with.

FROSTY THE SNOWMAN- A Memory Involving Snow or A Memory You Would Like to Have Involving Snow?

I’m pretty scared of snow (I like it in films if you’re wondering why I love Frozen so much, but in real life it’s a no from me) so most of my related memories are of me getting upset. A snow related memory I did enjoy was reading a book under a blanket, facing away from the window so I didn’t have to see how deep it was and how fast it was falling. I’d quite like to build my own Olaf one day, so let’s go for that being a memory I’d like to have (also wouldn’t say no to recreating the ending of Bridget Jones, it’s such a cute scene!)

RUDOLPH THE RED-NOISED REINDEER- A Holiday Activity You Like Doing?

I really like writing Christmas cards, if that counts. I find it relaxing.

EBENEZER SCROOGE “Bah, Humbug!”- A Favorite Holiday Saying or Quote?

I don’t really have anything very interesting for this at all. It’s not very Christmassy, but it’s part of a Christmas episode, so I guess the bit of The West Wing’s Noel where Leo tells Josh the story about the man in the hole would count. It’s one of my favourite moments of the whole entire series, and West Wing had a hell of a lot of amazing moments. It was so far ahead of it’s time.

Who is your favourite Christmas character? What would your answers to some of these be? I’d love to hear in the comments!

My 5 Favourite Love Songs

Hello everybody!

Today, I have something quite different for you. I’m going to be talking about music, specifically love songs seeing it’s Valentine’s Day this month. I’m not a music blogger and don’t really know what I’m talking about, but I do love music and these songs, and hope you enjoy the post!

Money or the Girl (Into the Ark)- this is quite potentially my favourite song of all time, and Into the Ark my joint favourite musician of all time (you’ll see the other one in a minute). I love the lyrics, the story I think it tells and Taylor and Dane’s voices are as beautiful as ever. Their covers of Burning Love/Not a One are also GORGEOUS, and their original Better than Never at All (which I’m pretty sure Dane has said he wrote for his girlfriend when he was in Australia on a trip ) is super lovely too. Basically, I really love Into the Ark, and all their songs so I can’t pick just one.

Budapest (George Ezra)– I’m pretty sure everyone has heard this song, considering how often it was l the radio when Wanted on Voyage was released back in 2014, and it’s well deserved. The lyrics are fab, George Ezra’s voice is forever flawless (he’s that other joint favourite I was talking about) and it’s insanely catchy but never gets on my nerves no matter how many days in a row it’s stuck in my head. Other bits of romantic loveliness from George Ezra I recommend are Listen to the Man, Barcelona and Hold My Girl.

Something Just Like This (Coldplay)- I really, REALLY dislike the version of this including the Chainsmokers, but the One Love Manchester performance made me fall in love with it. I just love the concept of the song in general, and the chorus is so, so catchy and lovely. My absolute favourite Coldplay song.

Can’t Help Falling in Love with You (Elvis Presley)– a classic, and rightly so. This song is so sweet and pretty and lovely. Fun fact: when Saffy was a very small puppy and slept downstairs, this was one of my favourite things to sing to her to soothe her to sleep.

Let Me Love the Lonely (James Arthur)- this song is about falling in love when you aren’t comfortable with people, and it’s stunning. My absolute highlight of Back from the Edge, this is hugely underrated as no one EVER seems to have heard of it.

Thank you so much for reading! What love songs do you love? Have you ever listened to any of mine? Are there any other music posts you’d especially like me to do? Let me know in the comments or on Twitter @GoldenBooksGirl!

The Bedtime Tag

Hello everybody!

Today, I’m going to do the Bedtime Tag, which I wasn’t tagged for but saw on Jenny in Neverland and thought it would be fun. Onto my answers!

1. Describe your usual bedtime routine

Go to bed, loiter on Twitter/finish a blog post till too late, read, be unable to sleep, read some more, finally get to sleep usually just before midnight.

2. What are your favourite pyjamas?

If you know me/how many pyjamas I own, you’d know this was an impossible question. My favourite type to buy are usually either animals, Tatty Teddy, Snoopy or Disney. I have one Harry Potter set, and a few other random pairs, but they’re my main weaknesses that I can’t leave in a shop.

3. What is your current bedtime reading?

I’m writing this quite a bit in the past (hello future!), so I have no idea what book I’ll be on when this goes live!

4. What would I find on your bedside table?

A few photos of my dogs, a bottle of water, my tablet on its charger and my lamp.

5. What scent makes you sleepy?

Lavender, because I am a cliche.

6.  What is your usual bedtime and wake up time?

I like to be asleep for half 11 when I’m at school (and usually fail), and I get up at 7 for school. On weekends holidays, I like to sleep in till 8 or 9.

7. What are your top three bedtime products?

I only ever use micellar water to take off makeup if I’ve worn any, and sometimes don’t even do that.

8. What is your most common sleeping position?

On my side, facing my wall.

9. Do you have anything you like to take to bed with you?

Like Jenny, I always have my teddy (albeit mine is a tiger called Liam) with me in bed.

10. What’s your worst bedtime habit?

Staying on my tablet too long, I really must stop this habit!

Thank you so much for reading! I won’t tag anyone, as I don’t know who’d like to do this, but  if you feel like it feel free! I’d love to hear if we have anything in common at bedtime down below or on Twitter @GoldenBooksGirl!

Why I Loved Doing Blogmas

Hello everybody!

Today, I’m doing a little bit of reflection on why I enjoyed doing blogmas so much during December. After all the stress was out of the way, I thought it was an incredible experience, and one I personally loved (though I totally respect anyone who doesn’t enjoy it; every blogger is amazing regardless 💜). Unless anything drastically changes over the next year (which is entirely possible), I’m very much hoping to take part again in 2018. Onto the reasons why I decided this!

Increased Engagement– I’d be a liar if I didn’t own up to liking a boost in my stats, but I mean other things by this too. I thoroughly enjoyed reading other bloggers’ posts and trying to comment on and engage with them.

Creativity
– I got to come up with ideas, both for myself and working with guests to decide on their posts. It was brilliant fun, and I love how differently they’ve all turned out, even when working from similar titles. It was a big challenge, especially considering that I usually post 13 times a month on average, but I’m genuinely thrilled with every idea that made the cut (and some which didn’t, that I’ve added to thoughts for 2018 blogmas)

Getting to Organise Something-
I’m nowhere near near as organised as some people seem to think I am, but I do really quite enjoy it. Blogmas unleashed my inner organiser (blogging does in general, if I’m honest). Spider diagrams of brainstorming sessions and schedules have been in my notebook since July. This was admittedly extreme, but I’m so proud I pulled it off. In the interest of full disclosure, I already have a loose schedule in mind for blogmas 2018, should I take part…

Doing Something a Bit Different
– When my blog first began, I posted exclusively about books. Then I introduced the odd Disney post, and then a lifestyle tag and then films. I really enjoy writing them for a change of pace, and I loved doing festive versions during Blogmas! In the New Year I’m hoping to start talking a little bit about music too, which I’m super excited about. I hope you like these different posts too!

Guest Posts-
As well as hosting some amazing guest posts here, I also contributed posts to several blogs I love. It was so much fun, and I really couldn’t pick a favourite of the ones I got to write!

Thank you so much for reading! Why did you love doing blogmas, if you did it?
