Blog Tour Review: The Royal Jewel Plot by A.M Howell

Hi everyone! As promised, there are two blog tour posts this weekend, and this is the second!

I’ve been reading this author for many years now and loved the first book in her new series last year, so it’s a huge treat to be part of the blog tour for the second! In the Royal Jewel Plot we once again follow recently reunited siblings Alice and Sonny as they solve a mystery aboard a boat, in this case the yacht the Lady Rose, which they have just inherited. The then king Edward (this is set in 1936) and his party is their first charter since taking over the boat, and everyone in their family is very eager for things to go well. Disaster strikes when the priceless opal kept in the yacht’s aquarium is stolen, and the poisonous octopus that guards it has gone missing also. As ever, A.M Howell excels at capturing the historical period and discussing the issues of the past. There is always something new to learn in her books and I love that. These are also absolutely top-notch mysteries- this one really had me puzzled and I just couldn’t figure out what happened at all. Thank goodness Alice and Sonny were there to work it out instead! The sea setting is so fun for me as well, as I’ve never been on a boat. Alice and Sonny are navigating how to be siblings in this book, which was a really interesting subplot, and I’m OBSESSED with Rocket the mouse 🐁. If anyone ever wants to make him into a pie, they’ll have to go through me! I’m already super excited for book 3, which I’m sure will be another jolly good (I can’t help but love how much the word jolly is used in these!) adventure ⛵️

thank you so much for reading! You can find a GIVEAWAY on my twitter, if you haven’t read this and would like to! I’d love to hear your thoughts if you have read it or any others by A.M Howell, too.
