Hello everybody! Today, we have another brilliant author here with a guest post, this time by Jennifer Killick. I’ve been reading Jennifer’s books since I started blogging in 2017 and I absolutely adore them, so it was such a pleasure to read and get to host this post about her Christmas tree. Onto the post!

Meet my Tattoos!

Hello everybody! So, I posted a photo on Twitter the other week and got a couple of questions about the tattoo that was visible in it, and I remembered that I’d wanted to do a post all about my tattoos and just hadn’t got round to it, and I decided I might as well do one now I have 5 and it’ll be a decent length! So, onto the post!

The Christmas Characters Tag

Hello everybody! Today, I’m doing another Christmassy tag, and I found this one on Lainy’s blog. Onto the post!

SANTA CLAUSE- A Gift You Received or Want This Year?

I’ve been pretty obsessed with Oh Wonder for a while now, and I’m really hoping I’ll get physical copies of their albums for Christmas.

MRS. CLAUSE- A Favourite Holiday Treat to Have Every Year?

As in my favourite holiday snack? Chocolate coins, hands down. I’m particularly loving Costa’s this year.

GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PAST- A Holiday Memory from Your Past?

I really love opening the Christmas Eve box my mum does for me, with new pyjamas and some other nice treats.

BUDDY THE ELF “The best way to spread Christmas Cheer, is singing loud for all to hear.”- A Holiday Song You like to Sing Each Holiday Season?

My actual favourite Christmas song is one you can’t really sing along to (Carol of the Bells). The ones I most like singing along to are Baby It’s Cold Outside (Idina Menzel/Michael Buble version) and All I Want for Christmas is You

MISFIT TOYS- An Unpopular Toy You Really Wanted to Get One Year?

I loved Playmobil as a child, and I don’t really remember anyone else I knew wanting the new sets for Christmas. But I could just be forgetting. I can’t think of anything super strange.

GRINCH- A Moment When Your Heart Grew Three Sizes?

I bought a book each for a family friend’s kids one year and they sent a video thanking me. It was the most precious.

JACK FROST- A Tradition You Like to Do Every Winter?

My favourite thing I always do in December is probably just watching Miracle on 24th Street. I really love that film and it doesn’t feel like it’s Christmas unless I see it at some point.

HERO BOY-A Moment You Believed in a Holiday Wish/Miracle

This is really hard! I can’t really think of anything specific, although I’m very superstitious so I do believe in miracles as a general rule.

CINDY LOU WHO- A Favourite Holiday Tradition?

Other than the Miracle on 34th Street thing I can’t think of anything very interesting. I love watching Christmas Strictly ever year as well, that’s about the best I can come up with.

FROSTY THE SNOWMAN- A Memory Involving Snow or A Memory You Would Like to Have Involving Snow?

I’m pretty scared of snow (I like it in films if you’re wondering why I love Frozen so much, but in real life it’s a no from me) so most of my related memories are of me getting upset. A snow related memory I did enjoy was reading a book under a blanket, facing away from the window so I didn’t have to see how deep it was and how fast it was falling. I’d quite like to build my own Olaf one day, so let’s go for that being a memory I’d like to have (also wouldn’t say no to recreating the ending of Bridget Jones, it’s such a cute scene!)

RUDOLPH THE RED-NOISED REINDEER- A Holiday Activity You Like Doing?

I really like writing Christmas cards, if that counts. I find it relaxing.

EBENEZER SCROOGE “Bah, Humbug!”- A Favorite Holiday Saying or Quote?

I don’t really have anything very interesting for this at all. It’s not very Christmassy, but it’s part of a Christmas episode, so I guess the bit of The West Wing’s Noel where Leo tells Josh the story about the man in the hole would count. It’s one of my favourite moments of the whole entire series, and West Wing had a hell of a lot of amazing moments. It was so far ahead of it’s time.

Who is your favourite Christmas character? What would your answers to some of these be? I’d love to hear in the comments!

The Christmas Tag

Hello everybody! Today, since it’s almost Christmas, I decided to do the Christmas Tag, which I found on Foundations and Fairytales. Onto the post!

What is your favourite Christmas movie?

Definitely the 1994 version of Miracle on 34th Street. I’ve not done my annual rewatch yet this year but I definitely will be before Christmas!

Have you ever had a white Christmas?

Yes, but I’m not a fan of snow so I’d rather not have them.

Where do you usually spend your holiday?

We go and see my gran for a little while, but otherwise we’re usually at home for the rest of the day.

What is your favourite Christmas song?

Carol of the Bells. It’s absolutely gorgeous and listening to it always gives me chills.

Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

No, but my mum always does a Christmas eve box for me with pyjamas and things, which I love. I’m so excited to see this year’s!

Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

Fake. I’ve never had a real one and don’t mind; I love our tree. It’s the decorations that make it special, in my opinion. I adore our big downstairs tree this year, and the little one I have in my room, so much!!

Are you a pro wrapper or do you fail badly when wrapping Christmas presents?

I am hopeless at wrapping. Gift bags are my friends. And I’m very lucky that my mum does some for me, because she is AMAZING at wrapping!

What makes the holidays special for you?

I really like having time to watch lots of films and things with family, and I tend to get lots of time for reading too which is great. And I am a huge fan of Christmas chocolate, so I LOVE it being available…

Do you prefer to give or to receive gifts?

If I am honest, recieving. Mostly because I get really stressed when giving presents in case people think it is stupid and hate it. But I do love it when someone loves it… so really both, I guess.

What place would you love to visit at Christmas?

Disneyland, without a doubt. It’d be so amazing getting to meet characters in their Christmas costumes, and I bet the decorations are just incredible.

Do you write and send Christmas cards?

Yes, though I’ve barely done any this year. I love doing them most years though!

What would your answers to these questions be? I’d love to hear in the comments!

My 5 Favourite Love Songs

Hello everybody!

Today, I have something quite different for you. I’m going to be talking about music, specifically love songs seeing it’s Valentine’s Day this month. I’m not a music blogger and don’t really know what I’m talking about, but I do love music and these songs, and hope you enjoy the post!

Money or the Girl (Into the Ark)- this is quite potentially my favourite song of all time, and Into the Ark my joint favourite musician of all time (you’ll see the other one in a minute). I love the lyrics, the story I think it tells and Taylor and Dane’s voices are as beautiful as ever. Their covers of Burning Love/Not a One are also GORGEOUS, and their original Better than Never at All (which I’m pretty sure Dane has said he wrote for his girlfriend when he was in Australia on a trip ) is super lovely too. Basically, I really love Into the Ark, and all their songs so I can’t pick just one.

Budapest (George Ezra)– I’m pretty sure everyone has heard this song, considering how often it was l the radio when Wanted on Voyage was released back in 2014, and it’s well deserved. The lyrics are fab, George Ezra’s voice is forever flawless (he’s that other joint favourite I was talking about) and it’s insanely catchy but never gets on my nerves no matter how many days in a row it’s stuck in my head. Other bits of romantic loveliness from George Ezra I recommend are Listen to the Man, Barcelona and Hold My Girl.

Something Just Like This (Coldplay)- I really, REALLY dislike the version of this including the Chainsmokers, but the One Love Manchester performance made me fall in love with it. I just love the concept of the song in general, and the chorus is so, so catchy and lovely. My absolute favourite Coldplay song.

Can’t Help Falling in Love with You (Elvis Presley)– a classic, and rightly so. This song is so sweet and pretty and lovely. Fun fact: when Saffy was a very small puppy and slept downstairs, this was one of my favourite things to sing to her to soothe her to sleep.

Let Me Love the Lonely (James Arthur)- this song is about falling in love when you aren’t comfortable with people, and it’s stunning. My absolute highlight of Back from the Edge, this is hugely underrated as no one EVER seems to have heard of it.

Thank you so much for reading! What love songs do you love? Have you ever listened to any of mine? Are there any other music posts you’d especially like me to do? Let me know in the comments or on Twitter @GoldenBooksGirl!
