Hello everybody! Today, I’m taking part in Top Ten Tuesday, and the theme is to share a list of characters who we’d like an update on after the end of their books. Onto the post!
Dom and Sol from the Ash House– I had to make this two characters, as I didn’t want to list all the different characters, but really I want an update on all of the children who were at the Ash House. The ending was super ambiguous and I really want to know what actually happened there and how they’ll all move forward.
Paz from the Podkin One-Ear trilogy– we’ve had a whole trilogy now with barely a mention of Paz. I NEED to know where she is and how she’s doing in the present day Five Realms timeline, please. Like I’m very worried about Podkin, obvs, but how Paz is doing is my biggest question heading into whatever comes next in the series.
Laurie and Jamie from If I Never Met You– these two are one of my fave romance book couples ever, and I just want to know how they’re getting on in their life together. I’d actually love updates on a lot of couples that get together at the very end of books, I need to know they live happily ever after forever and ever!
Edie and Elliott from Who’s That Girl?- I’m sorry to put two Mhairi McFarlane inspired items on this list, but not really, because the ending of this was SO AMBIGUOUS and while I have my headcanon for what happened, I’d really like some confirmation I’m right and these two realised how great they are together and that they just need to be a couple!!
Peyton from Destination, Anywhere– I was torn between two Sara Barnard characters for this list, but she’s hinted on Instagram that my other wish is being fulfilled in the near future, so instead I’ll talk about how much I want to know what happens next in Peyton’s life. I related to her a frightening amount in many ways, and I just want to know that she’s doing okay and working through her trauma and trying to move on with her life.
Freya and (redacted) from A Snowfall of Silver- this is redacted because there’s a love triangle situation in this book, but I really want to see how Freya and him are getting on after the book ends. I also just really want more books about the Trevelyan siblings in general. Sure there aren’t any more sisters other than the baby, but we could have books about the brothers to bridge the gap…?
Riley from Life of Riley– I don’t think there’s one planned, but I would absolutely LOVE a sequel to Simon James Green’s first middle grade novel. It made me laugh so much and I’d just love to spend more time following Riley’s ridiculous antics. Also, his big sister is an absolute legend and I love her.
Toni and Olivia from Rise to the Sun- loads of my recent reads are on here, but I think that’s probably because they’re just freshest in my memory. I liked the happy for now vibe of the ending, but I kind of wish there was an epilogue just to tie up some loose ends.
Robin from Boy Queen– I absolutely LOVED George Lester’s debut YA, and I’d love a sequel exploring what Robin and his friends do next in their lives. I don’t think it’s on the cards, but I’d be so bloody here for it!
